Gingerbread Joy and Other Christmas Eve Fun

Making ready to start!
It's been a busy day: baking, last minute wrapping, cleaning up and heading out to the family Christmas Eve dinner, which was joyous, delicious and overflowing with dear, dear family.  All in all, it was a great day.  But the highlight?  Our annual gingerbread house competition.

This year, contestants ranged in age from 7 to 17.  You would think that the 17 year old would go a little easy on the 7 year old, but that is NOT what happened!  Competition was fierce, no-holds-barred
and stressful as there were various equipment malfunctions and whispers of treachery and subterfuge.  Dodgy business, this having a grand time!

In the end, however, everyone seemed pleased with their entries as they were placed before the judges.  Anticipation ran high as creativity, use of materials and craftsmanship were carefully scrutinized and the winner announced. . .it was an ALL-WAY tie!

A perfect way to spend Christmas Eve day!

Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you, Heather! To you, as well!

The judges of such events often have age groups categories. . .four, to be exact, unless a parent is participating. Amazingly, the winner in each category is usually a Feav! However, this time, the judges were tricky and it was an open competition. . .no age segregation. This made the older, ridiculously competitive, contestants very happy. Until the results were revealed! :)
