All Pre-Ops Done!

Today marked the last of my son's pre-surgery tests and procedures.  No more x-rays, blood draws, fasts, ultrasounds, specimens, test regimens, and endless, endless appointments.  The very next thing that will happen will be us checking in to the hospital in a couple of weeks.

I am obviously slightly nervous about it all. . .he'll be put under two days in a row.  But it's not a particularly risky procedure, so there are no real concerns.  Except the irrational "Mama" ones, of course.

But I have to say I am excited, too.  Some wonderful people (from all over the world!) have gone out of their way to reassure us of the safety of the surgery and of the way it has improved the quality of life for their children.

And that is what I want for this precious boy. . .a better quality of life.

So here we come, Cecostomy.  We're ready for you!

  2. Thanks, Sheri. . .after the initial shock of what it all will entail wore off, we looked past that and realized his life really is going to change. Even having people react to him differently because he no longer has a very 'noticeable issue' will make his life better. . .and improve his self esteem. I am really excited about that part. I love this kid so much. (and we miss you guys, too!)
