My Beautiful Birthday Boy!

He's only just turned eight.  He still toys with the idea of never leaving home (because, why would he when he's got me and Papa and his very own bunk bed?) and dreams of being a chef and baseball player and, maybe an Olympic Snowboarder, too.

He's only recently realized that he can't marry me.  And not for the 'EEEWWWWW' factor, either.  It's because I'm already married to Papa.  But if he does marry, he's confided, she's going to be just like me and will sleep on the top bunk.

Bless him.

He's a curious little chap.  Smart as a whip (a year ahead in school and yet still at the top of his class) but thinks that sports are his future.  He's planning for retirement, too.  Every little bit saved is important, he notes.

So I hope I can be forgiven for being utterly, completely, head-over-heels in love with this little guy.  His smile and kindness and care for the world blesses me daily.  I'm privileged to get to parent him.  Though I think I get too much credit. . .he's pretty marvelous all on his own.

Happy Birthday, precious Noah James!  I love you to the moon and back.  And a whole lot more than that!!
